Thank you for taking time to visit our website. I hope that you will find it informative and that it will answer any questions you may have about our school which opened its doors to secondary school girls in October 2020. I feel truly privileged to be part and parcel of such a wonderful school and to have the opportunity of ensuring that each girl at St. John Girls’ Secondary School receives the best possible education in her formative years.
In principle, we are not driven by PROFIT but by PURPOSE. Our main purpose is to enhance girl child education in Malawi especially in Mangochi district where girl child education is probably the lowest in the country. We believe that our school will play a key role in empowering future Malawian women to be key players in the decision making either in the church or society. We would like to fight the cultural tendency towards forcing young girls into premature marriages and subsequent abuse.
As a school, we continually work hard to build upon our strengths and to address our areas for development in what is an ever changing and challenging educational climate. In this regard, we thank our partners who constantly accompany us to realise our noble and great dream towards a dignified future of the young Malawian woman. We believe, as others do, that educating a girl child is educating a nation.
At St. John Girls’ Secondary School, we have high expectations of our girls and set challenging targets for them. Every girl is encouraged to reach her full potential and we recognise that every girl child is special and has her own contributions to make.
Our staff are well qualified, dedicated, hardworking and experienced. We provide a safe, calm and caring atmosphere in school and foster a hardworking ethos based on an enjoyment of learning within a stable environment. We expect a great deal from our girls and they do not disappoint us. We are pleased to offer a varied selection of enrichment and enhancement opportunities and possess excellent links with our diverse community. We are very proud of our reputation as one of the best Catholic Girls’ Secondary Schools in Malawi where integral education for girls is offered.
The Director, Management and Staff continually seek the views of parents, carers and visitors to our school. We recognise that parents play an important role in the education of their children and as such, we welcome their support and co – operation in making their child’s time at St. John Girls’ Secondary School enjoyable.
We are fortunate to have a very active Parent Teacher Association and encourage parents and carers to be involved in all aspects of school life or to discuss any concerns or issues with us. Please call at any time to make an appointment to see the director, the administrator, the head teacher or even the members of staff to discuss any aspect of life at our school. Guardians in particular are urged to take an active participation in the formation and education of their wards by having frequent interface with the school management on the human, intellectual, social and spiritual progress of their ward.
We have an aspiration for all our learners that, through their school journey, they will fulfil their academic potential and become successful lifelong learners. In addition, we endeavour that our girls will realize high levels of social, spiritual, intellectual and emotional potential during the time they will be here. We believe that one of the best gifts to that girl child of yours is to put her in a school that believes in holistic approach to girl child education.

ST. JOHN GIRLS' SECONDARY SCHOOL OVERVIEW
who we are
St. John Girls’ Secondary School was founded and established as a sister school to St. John Girls’ Primary School. Both are under the same administration of St. John Girls’ Academy. The aims and objectives are the same. The focus is on offering Integral Education to the Girls to prepare them for a more successful dignified life in future.
St. John Girls’ Boarding School is a Catholic Private Secondary School situated in Mangochi district along Mangochi – Blantyre road next to DMI – St. John the Baptist University.
The dream of the institution is to be offering an Integral Education for Girls as a way of enhancing a Girl Child Education in Malawi and in Africa as a whole at a Secondary School level. Those who wish to join the school are supposed to sit for entry examinations which are administered in the last term of each Academic Calendar
At the heart of every program is to enhance the national dream of Girl Child Education. The project for St. John Girls’ Secondary School started off in October 2020 using the old structures that were available. The school when completed will cater for forms 1 – 4.
